Make-up

We have decided to not use make-up in our film as we wanted our killer to be mysterious and to never be able to their face, a masked murderer. Therefore we will cover there face with a black or white mask. Also such things as blood and cuts can be achieved by using fake blood pockets from joke shops rather than using make-up as the fake blood will look more realistic and we can make the blood pour out to add more gore and realism into our film.

Costume

For costume we have decided to keep the victims in everyday casual wear to evoke a more realistic setting that is believable to the audience. Also the killer will be dressed in black showing no skin and maybe hooded, to bring fear of the unknown and leave the audience to wonder as to who or what the killer is.

Lighting

Artificial lighting. The lights in the school will be turned on and we may use torches and other man-made light sources so we can have control of the lighting effects. We will film at night when it will be pitch black so the only lighting used will be ours.

Set

The set of our film is a school corridor and DT block, and closet. We are using a school as it is a place that everyone can relate to and therefore imagine themselves in the film, giving it a more realistic feel. The corridors are perfect for a horror film as they can look as of they are never ending and what is actually at the end is hard to see which brings fear and anxiety towards the figure in the distance. Also in a hallway there are many cupboards which are good for our end scene to hide the body remains.

The DT block can also be used as the rooms include sharp objects and machinery which at night could be seen as scary few to the thought of potential killing utensils. We also put into account the use of the forest at the back of the school. As forests are used in many horror films as there is no safe place in a forest, many unexplained noises and hidden dark areas which all help in contributing towards evoking the sense of fear and anxiety in the victim/audience. However we have only chosen to use the top few settings as we wanted to use the artificial lighting to control the effects we wanted, however we cannot take lighting outside and we also cannot have control over the weather.
